Important funding clarification
The 30,000 OP listed on this application represents the total funding received by the Optimystics team for multiple projects in RetroPGF Round 3, not solely for Eden Fractal events. Due to the application structure, there was no dedicated field to explain how previous funding was distributed across projects. To ensure transparency and avoid disqualification, we felt it necessary to note the full amount in each related application.
While Eden Fractal events, including their educational content and videos, were a significant part of our previous application, the funding specifically allocated to Eden Fractal events is less than the total 30,000 OP grant. For a broader understanding of our work across different projects and our funding context, please refer to the Optimystics Projects and Funding overview.

- Average Attendance: 5-7 participants per event
These numbers represent a wide range of participants, including governance experts, business leaders, and innovators from multiple blockchain ecosystems. The engagement is evidenced by consistent participation and the development of long-term collaborations among participants.
You can verify this participation by viewing our EdenFractal.com/videos and Eden Fractal playlist. You can also explore the timestamps in the video descriptions on Eden Creators YouTube channel.
Governance Innovation and Experimentation
Eden Fractal Events have been at the forefront of governance experimentation and innovation:
- Fractal Democracy Implementation: We've pioneered practical implementation of fractal governance structures, providing a scalable model for decentralized decision-making. This has led to increased interest in fractal governance on Optimism, with several community leaders expressing interest or planning to integrate these processes.
- Cross-Chain Governance Insights: We've facilitated knowledge exchange between governance leaders from multiple chains, informing governance strategies across ecosystems. This includes attracting builders and leaders from various Superchain networks, including OP Mainnet, EOS, Base, and Mode.
- New Prosocial Games and Foundational Progress: We've pioneered new versions of prosocial games like Cagendas to form comprehensive vision, mission, marketing, and product strategies for gaining adoption of fractal governance processes on Optimism.
- Experimental Consensus Mechanisms: We've tested various consensus games and voting mechanisms that could be adapted for use in other governance processes.
A key milestone this year was our approved proposal to migrate to Base for Eden Fractal Epoch 2, which involved extensive planning, discussion, and promotion of Base/Optimism to fractal community leaders in various Telegram and Discord channels.
Why Eden Fractal Events are Critical for the Collective
Eden Fractal Events provides educational infrastructure that enables both the Citizens House and Token House to scale effectively, operate more efficiently, and resist capture. This aligns directly with the Optimism Foundation's identified need for "more experimentation and clarity” regarding governance scaling.
As the Optimism Collective grows, it needs governance systems that can scale while remaining democratic and engaging. Eden Fractal events provide essential experimentation and testing for integrating fractal decision-making processes with prosocial games - a combination proven necessary for effective coordination at scale.
Through consistent events and deep educational content, we help the Collective understand why fractal democracy is vital while pioneering practical implementations that prevent centralization and maintain engagement. Read more about our impact and the evolution of fractal communities in the Eden Fractal blog. You can also learn more about how fractal democracy can enhance the Token House in this article and enhance RetroPGF in this post.
Our bi-weekly events create a space where governance leaders, builders, and community members can experience these processes firsthand, refining them to serve the Collective's unique needs as it works to create a more equitable internet.
Software Development Fostered
Eden Fractal events have been a catalyst for significant software development:
- Fractal Democracy Infrastructure: Our events help helped foster the development developed and refined the core infrastructure for the fractal democracy tooling, which has now been adopted by other communities. This includes contributions to tools like ORDAO, Fractalgram, and the Respect Games app.
- Governance Tool Showcases: We've provided a platform for developers to present and refine various governance tools, supporting their development and integration into multiple ecosystems. For example, our deep dive into OREC with Tadas and exploration video of the new Respect Games app have led to significant improvements in these tools.
You can explore the open-source repositories inspired by our events on the Optimystics GitHub page and learn more about these tools at Optimystics.io/tools.
How has Eden Fractal helped Foster these Developments?
Eden Fractal has played a vital educational and developmental role in software created by the broader fractal ecosystem through bi-weekly deep-dive sessions focused on collaborative learning and comprehensive feedback. Our key contributions include:
- Dedicated Developer Workshops: Hosting in-depth technical sessions where builders can present early-stage concepts, gather extensive feedback, and participate in extended Q&A sessions. For example, Vlad presented hour-long deep dives into his Respect Games app, enabling thorough exploration of features and gathering comprehensive community input.
- Educational Foundation: Creating foundational educational content through recorded workshops and detailed show notes that help developers and communities understand the theoretical underpinnings and practical applications of fractal governance tools. These resources serve as key documentation for implementation.
- Developer Support Community: Fostering a learning environment where builders like the ZAO Fractal founder could ask detailed questions about implementation challenges, receive guidance on tool selection, and learn from others' experiences in starting fractal communities.
- Technical Design Refinement: Providing structured feedback sessions where developers can workshop their designs, allowing for thorough exploration of technical approaches before significant development investment. This thorough exploration phase has helped ensure tools are built with clear purpose and strong foundations.
- Comprehensive Documentation & Promotion: Producing high-quality educational videos with detailed timestamps, making complex technical concepts accessible to wider audiences. These in-depth developer presentations, supported by custom artwork and professional production, help builders communicate their work's value and technical architecture to non-technical audiences.
These educational and exploratory contributions complement the practical testing environments provided by other communities, creating a comprehensive ecosystem for development of fractal governance tools.
