Welcome
New to Eden Fractal?
Here’s how it works: We meet every Wednesday to play two fun and innovative consensus games: Eden+Fractal and Cagendas.
Eden+Fractal is a game where we split up into groups where each person shares their work then helps decide how to allocate respect and elect a delegate to help make community decisions. We play Eden+Fractal for about an hour and then we return to the community room to play cagendas. Cagendas is a community agenda game where we choose discussion topics, explore exciting themes, and make decisions together.
We meet every other Wednesday at 16:00 UTC. We have an open discussion for the first half hour, and then we go into randomized breakout rooms at 16:10 to play a consensus game called Eden+Fractal. We split up into random breakout groups with 5-6 players where each person shares their contributions, shares respect, and elect delegates. Make sure to join before 16:00 if you want to play. The breakout rooms last for about 55 minutes, and then we return to the community room to play another consensus game called Cagendas or Vlalendas for the next hour.
More details below!
What are Consensus Games?
Consensus games are an exciting new type of game where the goal is to reach agreement among the players and create mutual benefit!
What is Eden+Fractal?
Eden+Fractal is an social networking game that combines the benefits of Eden Elections and ƒractally to help communities cooperate for mutual benefit.
With this elegant process, community members meet each week to share their work, ranks contributions, and give each other respect for helping their community. Players are randomly split up into breakout rooms with ƒractally Delegates form councils that update each week, then recent councils cooperate to represent the will of the community, express shared opinions, and make community decisions.
You can learn more about Eden+Fractal in this article and the debut episode of Creator Talk.
How do I play?
Basically, the goal is to help each other as much as possible. Whoever the group thinks helped the most wins the most. Everybody is helping by contributing, so everyone earns some respect!
How can I earn more respect?
There are many different ways to earn more respect. Basically, you can earn more respect by joining more meetings and doing things that other community members appreciate. When you do things that other community members appreciate, you’re more likely to get higher levels in Eden+Fractal and earn more respect.
Here are some tips and suggestions that you may want to consider to earn more respect:
- You can ask other community members what they think would be helpful for the community
- You can take initiative and do something you think is helpful for the community. For example, you could invite a friend to join a meeting, write a post, make a graphic, or create a helpful tool for the community. Then you can see how much the community appreciates it during the meeting!
- You can share your screen and show your work. Sometimes it can be difficult to convey the ways that you are helping the community in just a few minutes. When you show your work, it can help other community members better understand how you are helping the community.
What is Cagendas?
Cagendas is a social coordination game that helps communities create agendas, choose discussion topics, and make decisions together. We play a version of cagendas called Vlalendas and you can see the rules for Vlalendas here. Please note that the articles linked in this section are works in progress and will be updated soon.
How do I play Cagendas?
Here’s how it works: Anyone can propose a topic on the Eden Consortium in the week before the meeting. The topic can be a proposal for the community or just a theme for discussion.
The community discusses whichever topic receives the most votes over the prior week first. The winning topic proposer will be given five minutes to present their topic (or they can choose someone else to present it for them). The community will continue discussing this topic until the delegates approve a proposal or a moderator decides to move to the next topic. The community discusses the topic with the second most votes next, and so on.
Please be respectful of everyone in the room and raise your hand if you’d like to speak. The moderator will give each person an opportunity to share their thoughts. You can see the rules for the Vlalendas game that we play here.
