Respect Games will be on Thursdays at 17 UTC
Dan Singjoy (edited 2:44 PM):
As we discussed at our most recent town hall, we're considering weekly Eden Town Halls (Thursdays at 16 UTC) alongside biweekly Eden Fractal Respect Games (Thursdays at 17 UTC).
We also explored the idea of running respect games weekly when we return, though several community members shared that a biweekly cadence for respect games might work better and provide more space for deeper discussion during Eden Town Hall. I agree this feels like the best way to begin the season.
Dan Singjoy (2:45 PM):
We'll publish the video in the coming weeks for anyone who missed these conversations. I've needed to focus on other matters over the past month and apologize for the delay. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season!

I think that playing a second instance of the game at a different time zone friendly meeting time on a bi-weekly is a higher priority than increasing the frequency of the game.
Swarthy Hatter (4:45 PM):
Something that I think is important for this framework is accessibility to governance participation. the framework stand to dramatically improve operational efficiency, so it should stand to reason that operators should have a bit more time in practice to run additional instances of the meeting. This might not be a necessary feature for all implementations of the framework, but for highly decentralized ones, only having one meeting time strongly favors a set of timezones and a subset of participants.
Swarthy Hatter (4:47 PM):
For example. 17 UTC is 9pm in East Africa (relatively accessible) but 11 – 3 pm in the US depending on the timezone. This means working individuals in the states experience barriers to participation.

Like I know for example that @sailingLeo has expressed interest in attending but has a conflict with our current meeting times.
Swarthy Hatter (4:21 PM):
In the absence of OP fractals meetings, do you think 1 meeting per week with alternating times is something you can manage operationally @dansingjoy?

I could potentially manage this and love the idea of making event timing more accommodating for community members. However, I'm skeptical about the idea of hosting Eden Fractal meetings at alternating times and believe hosting meetings at the same time is probably best for the community.
I remember a few people suggested alternating times in Eden Fractal's first year, and we ultimately decided against it. Hosting meetings at one consistent time is simpler and generally results in more cohesive discussions. If we were to host meetings at multiple times, how would you envision it working?

1. A user would only play 1x per 2 week cycle. Perhaps they could still participate, but not earn respect. Or perhaps they could only spectate if they wish.
2. A different day of the week n alternating weeks (to accommodate users who are never available thursdays. Thursday 1 week. Friday the next, then back to thursday etc
3. A different time of day to accommodate those never available in the middle of business hours in the western hemisphere. (5 –7pm EST)
Dan Singjoy (12:26 PM):
So
week 1 Thursday 16:00 pm UTC
week 2 Friday 20:00 pm – 22:00 pm UTC
week 3 Thursday 16:00 pm UTC
week 4 Friday 20:00 pm – 22:00 pm UTC
Swarthy Hatter (9:12 PM):
In the end this may not be a high enough priority, and might dilute participation in either game. I just think it would be a higher priority than playing at a higher frequency.
