Enhancing Community Coordination through Eden Fractal Cagendas
This proposal to implement Cagendas at Eden Fractal aims to resolve current problems with fractal communities, provide a platform to catalyze the fractal ecosystem, and create foundational infrastructure for scaling fractal decision-making processes throughout society.
Eden Fractal Cagendas would operate similarly to our current implementation at Optimism Town Hall, where community members use their Respect tokens to vote on discussion topics. Community members who have earned Respect can propose topics related to the fractal ecosystem and the community members democratically determine priorities through Snapshot voting. By leveraging Eden Fractal's pioneering work with Cagendas over the past two years, practical experience at Optimism Town Hall, and our upcoming ORDAO deployment—we enable sophisticated coordination that supports both immediate ecosystem needs and longer-term strategic growth.
The proposal aligns naturally with Eden Fractal's core intents and unique role in supporting the entire fractal ecosystem through infrastructure development and technical innovation. While communities like Optimism Fractal focus on their specific missions within the Superchain, Eden Fractal supports the ecosystem with essential coordination tools, processes, and platforms for discussion that benefit all fractal communities.

It should have it where Eden Fractal consensus process can at any time schedule its own discussions and override the votes of other fractals- this way it maintains independence from other fractals and can set it own agenda.
Eden Fractal can do this by approving a proposal to accept votes from other fractals (and assign their voting weights) in Eden Fractal Cagendas events (and eventually Eden Town Halls), but retain the ability to approve a proposal using its own ORDAO process to change this so that for an event (or longer) its only the eden fractal community who can vote on agenda topics
This is inspired by Tadas’ thoughts in

Proposed Games Rules
Below is a first draft of the game rules for Eden Fractal Cagendas:
- Anyone who has earned Respect at Eden Fractal or Optimism Fractal can propose a topic by creating a poll in the Eden Fractal snapshot space.
- Anyone who has earned Respect at Eden Fractal or Optimism Fractal can vote on polls with their Respect to help determine the discussion topic for each weekly event.
- Whichever poll has received the most votes in the Topic Poll by Friday at 17 UTC will be the topic discussed during the following week’s event.
With these basic rules, it's simple to schedule any kind of topic in advance, and it's also possible to propose different types of Cagendas games—like OPTOPICS—to enable various forms of gameplay with different rules.

Comparison with Optimism Town Hall
Eden Fractal Cagendas would operate similarly to our current implementation of Cagendas at Optimism Town Hall, where community members use their Respect tokens to vote on discussion topics. Community members who have earned Respect can propose topics related to the fractal ecosystem and the community members democratically determine priorities through Snapshot voting.
However, the Eden Fractal Cagendas implementation has three key differences from Optimism Town Hall:
1. Discussion Topics
While Optimism Town Hall focuses on Superchain-related discussions, Eden Fractal Cagendas would provide a dedicated space for fractal community members to discuss topics focused on the growing the fractal ecosystem - including funding discussions, technical development coordination, and various Respect Game formats.
While topics could technically overlap between communities, the goals of each community will create natural alignment with the topic selection. Eden Fractal Cagendas will provide space for discussions focused on the fractal ecosystem, including:
- Funding strategies and implementation
- Technical development coordination
- Various Respect Game formats for testing
- Strategic planning and resource allocation
- Tool testing and refinement
- Educational resource development
2. Voting Power
- Initially enables Eden Fractal Respect holders from Epoch One to vote through Snapshot
- Extend voting power to Optimism Fractal (OPF) holders as soon as technically feasible
- Creates pathway for broader ecosystem participation while maintaining democratic principles
- Future plans to recognize Respect from more fractal communities based on demonstrated engagement
- This builds naturally on Eden Fractal's upcoming ORDAO deployment planned for January, making use of Respect tokens deployed on Base and enabling over 75 participants who participated at Eden Fractal Respect Games to have a voice in choosing topics.
3. Timing Structure
- Voting resolves Friday at 17 UTC (vs Monday for Optimism Town Hall)
- Eight-day window for topic proposals
- Six days preparation time between selection and event
- Extended preparation enables:
- More thoughtful topic development
- Better discussion preparation
- Systematic testing planning
- Comprehensive documentation

Strategic Benefits
- Natural Development Cycle Integration: Bi-weekly Eden Fractal events create regular opportunities for testing new features with a community that understands these tools are evolving. This provides more frequent testing cycles than Tadas' proposed monthly schedule, allowing incremental improvement while preserving Optimism Fractal's stability for broader ecosystem engagement.
- Democratic Coordination of Strategic Priorities: Cagendas provides a structured environment where anyone can propose funding strategies or other critical topics, with community voting determining priorities. This directly addresses Tadas' point about the need for focused deliberation while maintaining democratic principles.
- Flexible Topic Selection: Rather than prescribing topics months in advance, Cagendas would provide a flexible mechanism to coordinate about specific topics that are of most interest to the community. For example, several community members have expressed interest in contributing to funding discussions and other have expressed interest in technical development. Cagendas provides a democratic and flexible way to determine topics each week.
- Flexible Experimentation with Respect Game Variations: The community can propose different game prompts or discussion formats based on current needs. This could include focused prompts about funding contributions, broader prompts about growing the fractal ecosystem, or experimental formats that help refine our coordination tools. This flexibility enables testing of new features while maintaining consistent community engagement.
- Dual Deliberation Spaces: Combined with Optimism Town Hall's existing Cagendas implementation, this creates two complementary spaces for structured community discussion - one focused on Superchain development and another on fractal ecosystem growth. This separation helps maintain focus while maximizing opportunities for coordination.
- Maintains Simplicity: By implementing Cagendas at Eden Fractal, we use our proven bi-weekly cadence that has received excellent feedback from over 100 participants. This allows both regular contributors and occasional participants to easily predict and engage with events while creating dedicated space for focused deliberation on critical topics.
- Refinement of Cagendas: Implementation at Eden Fractal provides another venue for testing and improving Cagendas itself - one of our core coordination tools. Regular usage helps identify improvements and new use cases while demonstrating the tool's value for community coordination.

Technical Integration Considerations
The proposed implementation requires minimal technical infrastructure - primarily implementing ORDAO as already planned and creating a snapshot space where Eden Fractal Respect token holders from Epoch 1 can vote. We can gather community feedback on this proposal and implement if there's support once ORDAO is deployed for Eden Fractal.
Expanding participation to the fractal ecosystem requires thoughtful development of supporting infrastructure:
- Cross-Chain Voting: The first technical consideration is cross-chain verification of Respect tokens. As soon as possible, we should figure out a way that community members can vote on topics with Optimism Fractal Respect (OPF) at Eden Fractal as well (which may require cross-chain voting between OP Mainnet and Base). This may involve creating secure bridges between networks like Base and the OP Mainnet to enable accurate token balance verification within Snapshot voting. Ideally, the Snapshot interface would provide flexible strategies for reading token balances across chains while maintaining voting integrity
- Custom Voting Weights: Balanced representation across communities requires careful design of voting weight strategies. Snapshot's customizable voting frameworks allow us to implement weighting formulas that consider different Respect earning opportunities across implementations. Clear documentation of these mechanisms helps maintain transparency and trust.
- Building Towards Higher Order Fractal: This measured approach to expanding participation provides practical experience in cross-community coordination while laying groundwork for more sophisticated integration through the higher-order fractal concept. By starting with proven communities and carefully extending participation based on demonstrated commitment, we can build effective patterns for ecosystem-wide collaboration.
Future Evolution: Expanding Ecosystem Participation
While initially implementing Cagendas at Eden Fractal requires minimal technical development beyond our planned ORDAO deployment, expanding participation to include Respect earned across the fractal ecosystem would create transformative opportunities for coordination and growth. This evolution would strengthen connections between fractal communities while enriching discussions through diverse perspectives and experiences.
Outside of implementing Cagendas at Eden Fractal, the first priority should be to enable OPF holders to vote on topics in Eden Fractal Cagendas games. Given their demonstrated impact towards to advancing fractal decision-making processes, Optimism Fractal and Genesis Fractal represent natural initial partners for expanded participation. However, the framework should remain open to including other communities like ZAO Fractal or communities on the Respect.Games app as they demonstrate sustained engagement and grow in the fractal ecosystem.

Creating Value Through Broader Participation
Expanding Cagendas voting power beyond Eden Fractal Respect creates several compelling benefits for ecosystem development. First, it provides a dedicated space where anyone who has contributed to fractal innovation can help guide strategic direction. Community members who have earned Respect through different implementations bring unique insights from their experiences - whether developing tools, growing communities, or refining governance processes.
This diversity of perspective leads to richer deliberation and more comprehensive solutions. For example, participants from Optimism Fractal can share learnings about scaling community engagement, while Genesis Fractal members offer deep expertise in fractal governance patterns. By bringing together leaders from various communities, we create an environment where innovative ideas naturally emerge and evolve.
Furthermore, expanded participation helps activate currently dormant value in the ecosystem. Many community members have earned Respect through meaningful contributions but may have limited ongoing engagement. Creating opportunities for these experienced builders to shape strategic direction helps strengthen connections across the ecosystem while benefiting from their accumulated wisdom.

Strategic Evolution Timeline: From Foundation to Ecosystem Growth
The evolution of our events through 2025 follows a measured pathway that carefully builds upon proven foundations while creating infrastructure for transformative growth. This progression mirrors the natural pattern of building a fire - carefully tending our core infrastructure before expanding to broader ecosystem engagement.
Q1 2025: Strengthening Core Infrastructure
The first quarter focuses on establishing and refining our enhanced coordination framework. Through Cagendas implementation at Eden Fractal, we create flexible spaces for community-driven deliberation while continuing bi-weekly Respect Games at Optimism Fractal. This dual-track approach maintains proven engagement patterns while enabling focused discussion of critical ecosystem priorities.
Initial implementations will help us:
- Test various Respect Game formats through community proposals
- Refine technical development and applications through practical usage
- Gather community feedback on topic selection processes
- Build understanding of effective deliberation patterns
Q2-Q4 2025: Measured Ecosystem Growth
Building on Q1 foundations, we'll thoughtfully expand our scope based on community needs and implementation learnings. Rather than prescribing specific timelines, we'll evaluate initiatives like:
Multi-Community Integration
- Expanding Cagendas participation based on demonstrated engagement
- Implementing cross-chain verification infrastructure
- Refining voting weight mechanisms through practical testing
Educational Development
- Creating comprehensive implementation guides
- Documenting governance patterns and best practices
- Building resources to support community adoption
Respect Game Evolution
- Evaluating implementation of regular Respect Game prompts at Eden Fractal and introduction of Cagendas at Eden Town Hall
- Testing focused game prompts like "What did you do to grow the fractal ecosystem?"
- Exploring broader game prompts like “What did you do to advance governance, coordination, and public goods?”
This measured evolution ensures we maintain quality while expanding impact. By focusing first on core infrastructure and coordination mechanisms, we create strong foundations for broader ecosystem engagement.
The exact timing of initiatives will be guided by:
- Community feedback and priorities
- Technical infrastructure readiness
- Demonstrated demand for expanded services
- Success of initial implementations
This flexible approach allows us to respond to ecosystem needs while maintaining our commitment to democratic coordination and sustainable growth.
