Highlights
Imagine how our world would be if our systems were designed to be regenerative and public goods were rewarded fairly. We explore ways to build together with Optimism Fractal, RetroPGF Round 3, Aquadac and plan an interesting unconference to create peace and love across the universe.
Remembering Marco
At 2:26, Dan shares the sad news that dedicated community member Marco González recently passed away. Marco was an active participant since the very first Eden Fractal meeting. Dan gave a timeline about Marco and shows his great work. Marco was a huge fan of aviation and brought a lot of wisdom and humor to the community. Dan shares messages from community members remembering Marco, including this heart-felt message from Markus. We encourage everyone to read more about Marco's work in this curated article.
RetroPGF Round 3 is open
At 2:02:16, Dan Singjoy provided overview on RetroPGF Round 3, which is one of the biggest public goods grant opportunities in the world. This was then followed by an in-depth presentation at 2:08:43 presenting the blog article shared above.
You can also watch a presentation at 2:00:00 for more about the application process and specifics to consider. Furthermore, the presentation outlines different Optimism grant types at 2:01:40, including the Grants Council, Token House Missions, Foundation Missions (RFPs), The Partner Fund, The Partner Fund, and Retroactive Grants (Retro PGF) mentioned earlier.
Earlier at 1:54:50 Dan walked through the introductions to Optimism, including concepts like retroactive public goods funding, the sunny, and the Ether's Phoenix. He showed curated articles, podcasts, artwork, video playlists with educational materials including Vitalik Buterin and Kevin Owocki in the Optimism draft article during 1:55:16.
We encourage to read more about this incredible ‘impact=profit’ way of funding public goods in this article for more information about RetroPGF Round 3. You can explore the latest tweets, video podcasts and media coverage in this page presented during the meeting.
Sewing the Seeds of Optimism Fractal
Dan Singjoy shared an exciting update about Optimism Fractal with the community in the 69th episode of Eden Fractal. You can see an overview of the proposal to the Optimism Grants Council that was shared during 21:44. This was also referencing back to a previous episode 68th when Dan presented more pages reflecting on the initial Rubic feedback by the reviewers. During EF 68, Dan went through the Rubic for Proposals for builders sub-committee between 2:00:00 - 2:07:53, including the Builders’ Cycle 15 Preliminary Roundup review and the finalists, amongst which was Optimism Fractal. The updates were that the Grants Council did not approve the grant, as mentioned in this topics page presented during the event. Despite that, the Optimism Fractal team is aiming to build the tools and start the first events in October.
The page was shared with the group at 1:48:16, as a topic of high-interest alongside the Optimism and Eden collaborations. During 1:58:37, you can watch Dan sharing the high spirits of connection with Optimism into the fractal synergies and immense progress towards improving communities. At 1:59:00, the Optimism Collective was briefly touched on and described as a reflection of the broader community and systems poised to reward public goods contributions. All sharing a common vision with Eden Fractal. Following a group discussion, a deep dive on Optimism Collective was presented at 2:13:54, including the two governing houses: the Token House and the Citizens’ House government structure illustrated at 2:15:26, alongside the Optimism Vision at 2:15:59.
We keep on getting inspired to learn, grow and build together. We encourage you to watch the full episode to see all the action and check out this article for more details about the inception of Optimism Fractal. Let’s do it! 🌞
The Growth of Optimism
The growth of Optimism is immense and we’re making educational content to help convey the benefits. One of the questions asked was about the number of existing DAOs on Optimism. From 2:01:04 to 2:05:14, Dan Singjoy endeavored to provide data on adoption detailing participation in RetroPGF and the promising undertakings using the OP stack.
To further support views, Dan presented the Superchain website at 2:07:05 showing the many chains using the OP stack. He gave examples like Basechain launched by Coinbase and Worldcoin built by OpenAI. At 2:09:12, Dan explained one of the best ways to start building and familiarise with the scope of opportunities is to gauge adoption looking at the recipients of RetroPGF 2. This list helps to get a sense of what’s been rewarded in the past and therefore, inspire collaboration. (A quick update here is that users can’t access the project profiles from the last round because the page was deprecated, so an alternative of this is the recently launched archive page in the RetroPGF Hub, which is made by a community member. He advices to correct anything in case its incorrectly listed). Dan noted about 200 projects that received funding in the retroPGF2 results page, where 10m OP tokens were distributed to fund public goods that support development and usage of the OP Stack.
Continuing on at 2:04:12, Dan emphasized the significant impact on funding retroactively and the many community supporters routing for support public goods projects on Optimism. The new season of retroPGF Round 3 has 30 million OP tokens allocated to reward contributions that have supported the development and adoption of Optimism (and this is just the beginning!). Dan resurfaced once again at 2:09:53 the love for public goods and humanity, which gets supported more and more with each new season of RetroPGF. This represents the biggest opportunity for Optimism Fractal and the team is excited to port over the exciting social games and fractal governance tools to Optimism’s ecosystem. 🔴 🌱
