Unfolding RetroPGF and Optimism Grants
Lets explore the amazing grant opportunities within the Optimism ecosystem and find ways to fund the Eden Fractal community through retroactive public goods funding.
For anyone that’s unfamiliar with Optimism Collective, this is a new type of community designed to reward public goods and build a sustainable future for the open internet. Optimism is a pioneering Ethereum L2 community that is highly aligned with our values for creating public goods and improving human coordination for everyone’s benefit!
In case you’ve missed our 66th episode, we encourage you to watch Dan Singjoy’s introductory presentation about Optimism at 1:50:20, highlighting the Optimism Fractal grant proposal to start a new community at 2:03:55. The introductory presentation provides an overview of brilliant innovations from The Optimism Collective, including RetroPGF, Superchain, and the Optimistic Vision.
This week our group of heroes discussed the newly curated draft article about Optimism, encouraging a deep dive into a sunny pool of opportunities. A presentation at 26:36 gives Optimism topics’ a quick peak, being part of the main Eden Fractal Topics. You can taste the feeling of excitement as we delve into each one at 1:23:00 covering Intro to Optimism, Optimism RetroPGF, and the Optimism RFG 6 - Academic Research topics!
The academic grant was another opportunity discussed at 1:39:56, aligned with the work from members such as Jorge and Eric, which got interested to participate in future rounds. Dan provided links and educated the group on the Academic grant during 2:09:55, while also informing about the RetroPGF grant details between 2:09:55 - 2:10:49.
Optimism Fractal Grant Proposal
The Optimism Fractal proposal aims to empower the Optimism ecosystem with the next generation of collaborative games, tools, and shows pioneered by Eden Fractal and ƒractally. We invite you to read more in Eden Fractal’s recent show notes. You can read the full proposal here and explore the article to learn more.
Following on from the last Eden Fractal meeting where the Optimism Fractal grant was presented between 2:04:06 - 2:09:01, the high interest in collaboration amongst players strongly persisted. The interest continued going up rapidly ever since the topic was mentioned between 1:30:151:31:05, which opened the floor for an enthusiastic group discussion. The main sub-topics discussed were an exploration of the Optimism Grants Council processes and ways that the Optimism Fractal grant can support Eden Fractal members, with a focus on the wider Optimism community starting at 1:34:30.
The discussion around Optimism Fractal’s grant plan was going in full steam at 1:39:56, then followed by a group discussion on software development and EVM implementation for Optimism community chain between 1:45:06 - 1:54:16. This acted as a smooth segway to a naturally formed Q and A session where Optimism Fractal, Eden Fractal and RetroPGF benefits and synergies were beautifully composed. This conveyed the root message and mutual aim to create more public goods, one being the Optimism Fractal grant proposal explored in-depth between 2:02:01-2:07:47.
The discussion provided details on the application process and a variety of gra, whilst opening the door for inspiring collaborations in the Optimism ecosystem. Follow along and get involved in future episodes for more about Optimism Fractal!
Fractalgram Updates
After the group troubleshot in a Fractalgram issue, Tadas promptly followed up with instructions on how to fix the app group via a message and showed where is the log out button here as part of the instructions steps. The steps to fix the issue is described below (copied from Tadas’s statement):
The Latest update to fractalgram should fix this issue and it's already deployed at fractgram.web.app. However, you might have to logout and login again in order for it to work. To logout go to the menu on the top left -> settings -> click on three dots -> "Log out". Also in case the Telegram app needs an update, a button "Update Telegram" should appear on the left. Click it - page should reload. If issues persist afterwards, please logout and login again (see steps outlined above). It should work after logging in again.
You can learn more about Fractalgram and the profound benefits it can provide for all communities at EdenCreators.com/fractalgram.
MSIG Updates
At 25:46, Dan provided updates on troubleshooting issues with implementing the new Eden Fractal multi-signature account. Continued on during 1:32:56 to explain he tried creating the msig using msig.app but faced technical issues that he documented. Vlad offered to help resolve the msig issues. You can learn more about our work pioneering community permissions at EdenCreators.com/msig.

Upland Alien Discussion
An Eden Fractal community leader named Spacewrangler Joe recently started an new fractal community for players of metaverse games like Upland and Alien Worlds. Upland is one of the most popular Web3 games in the world and has deep partnerships with world class organizations like FIFA and the NFL Players Association.
You can see Spacewrangler Joe share an overview at 45:49 sharing his experience hosting the first couple Upland Fractal meetings with about ten community members during a recent Eden Fractal meeting. He mentioned using NFTs on the Upland metaverse game to record decisions as a primitive form of fractal governance. This would allow agreements made during fractal meetings to be recorded on the blockchain. You can learn more at Upland.me and our article about Upland, which features several news shows and articles written about Upland by Dan Singjoy.
Dynamics of Hegemony Game
Dynamics of Hegemony is an exciting new Web3 strategy game that features fractal social games with squads. The creator of the game is a highly successful entrepreneur named Gnome who also co-founded the UX Network. Gnome has played a leadership role in many Eden Fractal meetings and helped form the Alien Worlds Fractal. He now plans to empower his projects with fractal social games, as you can see in the ‘Governance and Strategy’ section of DynamicsOfHegemony.com. It states, “Experience democracy like never before. Join strategic 'squad' minigames, where, as a part of your faction, you'll collaborate to select leaders and establish squad rankings.”
Gnome recently built a new strategic game, which is currently in beta as a few Eden Fractal members are helping with the testing as they play. Details about how to play the game and instructions can be explored and users can register to play at the main website. At 21:16, Dan introduced the Dynamics of Hegemony game created by Gnome, which enables faction cooperation through strategic fractal squads. There was a discussion at 8:09 and 39:25 on the game's mechanics for enabling cooperation between factions using fractal squads.
